Pilgrim’s own Jaime Kelly played varsity hockey for Scituate High for 4 years and was captain his senior year, when they won the 1985 D2 State Championships. In the 1985 NHL Draft, Jaime was drafted directly out of high school by the Boston Bruins (73rd overall) and went on to play for Wayne Gretzky’s Hull Olympiques, the Verdun Junior Canadiens, the Johnstown Chiefs, and the Carolina Thunderbirds, retiring in 1990.
Jaime spent most of his childhood playing a variety of sports, although hockey was his passion. He believes that participating in different sports creates well-rounded athletes. Jaime was an assistant coach at Scituate High School and has also coached many individual athletes to help them to develop their hockey skills.
